Watch Zootopia newest film by Walt Disney Animation Studios (2016)

Directed by: Bryon Howard and Rich Moore Starring: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, and J.K. Simmons Zootopia movie is the newest film by Walt Disney Animation Studios about a city (called Zootopia) where nearly all animals (except for birds for some reason) have characteristics of humans and live in harmony... sorta. Basically it's the same kind of harmony that humans live in harmony so... not at all. And that's the point of the movie! To subtly address the many social issues going on today but with cartoon animals because that's what we have resorted to. (Also to deliver as many animal puns as you possibly can with this scenario) With that said; the main story focuses on a little bunny rabbit named Judy "gotta love the puns" Hopps, played by Ginnifer Goodwin. She goes to Zootopia to become the first bunny cop knowing full well that all cops are normally big animals like lions, tigers, and bears (oh my). From there she gets wrapped up in a missing person's (animal's?) case and meets the con-artist fox, Nick Wild, played by Jason Bateman. And as this movie went on, it surprised me more and more in every way possible. The Good The animation is freakishly stunning and huge. The amount of detail in the color blending, the designs of the city, the designs of the animals is stunning, eye-popping, and really made me wish I saw this in 3D. From the start of the film, you feel the huge scope of this film and it never leaves. You are constantly being thrown into new environments that provide to fun and creative set pieces. (I.E. chases and action scenes through a tiny mouse village, vine swinging in the rainforest, sneaking through city streets and the polar regions, and so on). As it ends, you feel like you've only scratched the surface of things that can happen in this huge world, and the amount of characters you meet. The chemistry between the two lead characters is some of the best I've seen in a while. Their dialogue is intriguing, funny, really well-thought-out, and delivered exquisitely. They're both full of energy, as illustrated by the animation, and hit every single emotional and dramatic moment they're supposed to hit. The result is a strong, well crafted and believable character relationship (that's not a romance) that keeps you invested until the very end. This is also a testament to how good the script is. The writing is truly the show stealer here. Normally, a movie that has it's story written by more than 4 people (there are 8 writers for this one) it turns out to be an unfocused mess. This is not the case for Zootopia Watch Online. If anything, it shows how hard every single writer was working to stay on the same page as everybody else. The story is as well-thought-out and engaging as the dialogue. It provides a colorful and interesting story for kids, while subtly and cleverly adding relevant social and political commentary for adults. Actually, Zootopia is more for adults. Sure there are enough cute jokes for kids (I.E. the puns), but there are so many jokes, references and subtle messages that'll fly right over their heads. References range from other Disney films to The Godfather to Breaking Bad, and the mature and timeless messages that cater more towards the people of modern day. These messages focus on modern issues of racism, prejudice, and drugs. Yes; you read that right. Disney delivers subtle commentary about drugs. Nowadays we see these same messages everyday through Facebook posts and tweets that try to beat you over the head with their morals, but Zootopia delivers them in an amusing and well-rounded manner that's both thoughtful and accessible. Even if it can get heavy handed at times. The Bad (AKA: The Nitpicks) As much as I praise the writing, I will admit that the overall plot is pretty conventional. But it's handled with so much panache and creativity that it seems like you're watching it unfold for the first time, and you really don't mind it. Plus, that's not the biggest flaw with it. Conventional plot aside, the real sin with the writing is that is feels kind of heavy-handed at times. It's still not badly handled, it's just that some scenes seemed more subtle than others and it had a hard time finding the right balance. I feel like one more rewrite for these very select scenes could've made them more solid and strong than they already were. Also, there are a number of glaring plot-holes here and there that will get you scratching your head as to how some events play out. But they are very minor and you may not notice them like I did. The Verdict Ladies and Gentleman; welcome to the new Disney Renaissance. We now live in a time where Disney once again rules the box office with solid hit after solid hit. And it's not just with their animated films this time. Almost everything they crank out nowadays has reached both great financial and critical success. As a lover of movies, I couldn't be more excited about it. Zootopia is Walt Disney Animation Studios' new big thing. There will be countless merchandise, fanfares, you name it. You will see this everywhere, and for good reason. It's their best film to date. Zootopia delivers beautiful animation and a talented voice cast, but most prominently, it delivers an interesting, clever, funny, thoughtful, and engaging story that acts as a subtle metaphor for the major social issues of modern day.
